Run for fun


Parkrun organise free 5km runs on Saturday mornings in parks across the UK. 


Due to popular demand, they’ve recently added 2km kids’ runs at various sites.

programmes with child-focused sessions that run at the same time as your own 


exercise class. No excuses!

Climbing high


Most kids love climbing – a test of nerves, agility and coordination, and there’s 


no shortage of specialist climbing centres across the UK. Find a climbing wall near you.




Treetop adventures


Go Ape provide treetop adventures for children across the UK. Treetop juniors courses 


allow kids to explore the tree tops crossing wobbly bridges and zip wires, while being 


attached to a safety harness.

Let them join the circus


If plain old gymnastics isn’t wowing your child, how about taking them to learn some 


circus skills from trapeze to tightwire walking? That way they’ll be learning a skill for life 


while developing focus, balance and muscle tone. Future party tricks guaranteed. 




Go bounce!


Trampolining is not only a brilliant cardiovascular activity, it’s great for coordination, 


bone density and bilateral motor skills. Trampoline centres like Bounce and Go Jump 


have popped up across the UK as kids get the jumping bug.

Skateparks are located throughout the country both inside and out and give kids a chance 


to hone their BMXing, scooting and skating skills. Search for your nearest skate park






Trice the fun


Kids' triathlons are excellent all-around exercise involving running, swimming and cycling at 


child-appropriate distances, such as 25km swim, 1km cycle and 500 metre runs for 6-9 year 


olds. Find their local triathlon club.

Two wheels go


It may sound obvious but cycling is an underrated – and excellent everyday – way for kids to 


get fit. With more cycling initiatives, now is a great time to invest in bikes for the family. Sustrans


a charity dedicated to walking and cycling, have maps of child-friendly cycle networks.




Skating on ice


There’s something utterly exhilarating about ice-skating and it’s amazing how quickly 


children – even little ones – can pick it up. Brilliant for balance, muscles and flexibility, ice-
