Step out of your comfort zone and into the arms of some of winter’s best and boldest shades.
As the winter gets darker, colder and gloomier, you wouldn’t be the first man to hibernate away in the comfort of a wardrobe filled with sombre blues and deep browns, blacks and greys.
But one thing that colour can do for you this season, is dictate your mood. Which is precisely why now is a good a time as any to break free from your rut and get on board. Here’s how:
Into the blue
Cobalt blue is essentially navy's younger and cooler brother. It's bright but not too bright, bold but not overly so and most importantly of all, it's a colour that most can wear for all occasions. Pair it with darker blues and blacks to get the most out of its tone, and never clash with anything louder than it.
Orange is the boldest of the bunch: it’s a strong, masculine colour and a guaranteed head turner – who wouldn’t want that? If out and out orange or coral is too much for you, start by slowly introducing a more muted version, like amber, and go from there. Black works best alongside it, so avoid anything else outrageously bright – and have fun.
Red has fast become the go-to hue for sartorially savvy men all over the world and if you’ve yet to broaden your horizons, now is the time. Red is often associated with energy which, let’s be honest, we all need during the winter. When paired properly with the right pieces (no pink, purple or orange in sight, but dark tailoring and denim instead), it instantly elevates your status, mood and outfit.
