What to wear to a winter wedding
1 February 2018
For reasons unbeknownst to us, dressing for a winter wedding is often met with far too much complexity. In our humble opinion, it’s actually much simpler than dressing for nuptials that take place under the scorching summer sun. So, if you’re one of the guys partial to overcomplicating occasion dressing, let our simple guide help you.
Follow the rules
The first thing to note is the importance of adhering to any kind of dress code: it’s always better to be overdressed than underdressed. Jeans, T-shirts and trainers at a wedding are a total no-go, unless you’ve received specific instructions. If you’re unsure and don’t want to pester the bride or groom, ask someone in one of their parties so that you’re getting it right.
SHOP ALL SUITS
By default, a wedding is a happy occasion, so why not try and work some colour into your outfit. Whether that means picking bright socks, a tie in a different tone to your two-piece or going for a different coloured suit to the norm, let your outfit emulate the day’s feelings.
SHOP COLOURED SUITS
At any wedding there can be moments of waiting around outdoors, so make sure that you’ve invested in a thicker suit in wool-blend for the new season. If it’s the right kind of occasion, why not layer with a slick tailored overcoat or blazer to combine style with function.

Find your feet
Your shoes are as important your suit, and there are a couple of basic rules to follow. It’s a smart occasion, so make sure that you’re picking something that raises the bar. Polishable shoes such as brogues or Oxfords are a great starting point – just make sure that they’re in perfect condition, ready for the big day.
