EDITOR'S PICK

All eyes on this jacket

July 4 2018

Summer brings all kinds of possibilities for the style-savvy gentleman, mainly because of how buzzing his social life undoubtedly becomes. With those social invitations, though, comes a whole host of style concerns: what will everyone else be wearing? Can I get away with this colour or that pattern? What does smart casual actually mean?

We hear you. Smart casual is possibly one of the most oxymoronic, impossible-to-understand dress codes, and you’re not the only one struggling to know what to wear. Start by focussing on basics: a classic pair of jeans, a stiff shirt, a staple pair of shoes. After that, build on a central, pivotal piece to help you stand out from the crowd. For us, that’s summer’s version of the classic blazer.

Once in a while, a menswear hero piece comes along that we can’t believe we ever lived without. Right now, it’s the linen blazer – something that’ll work no matter what the occasion is. Our go-to colour for summer has to be light grey, because keeping things simple and neutral never hurt anybody. Made primarily of linen, it’s the perfect piece for keeping you cool when the sun goes down, without weighing you down when it’s up. Whatever the occasion, wear with anything from jeans and a T-shirt, to shorts and a shirt for a summer look that’s hard to beat.
